Linda Olsen

Linda Olsen is an award‑winning journalist and proud born‑and‑raised Calgarian who has spent decades telling the stories of the city she loves. A familiar face and trusted voice, she’s been sharing Calgary’s moments, milestones, and people with audiences ever since graduating from SAIT in 1988.

After an incredible 36‑year run at Global News Calgary, Linda recently stepped away from the anchor desk. Her career spanned senior anchoring, reporting, and community storytelling, all driven by a deep commitment to shining a light on the important and inspiring work happening across the city.

Linda has long been a go‑to host, emcee, and keynote speaker for countless charitable events. She also helped create and led Global Calgary’s Woman of Vision series for 15 years, spotlighting remarkable women through monthly TV features and Calgary Herald columns, and bringing the community together each year for a sold‑out International Women’s Day luncheon.

Her passion for community extends well beyond the newsroom. Linda serves on the board of the Calgary Children’s Foundation and has contributed her time to Parks Foundation – Calgary’s Building Communities Advisory Committee and Believe in the Gold, a local childhood cancer charity.

She is honoured to serve as Co‑Chair for United Way of Calgary and Area’s 2025 campaign. Over the years, Linda has also been recognized with an Honorary Bachelor of Business Administration from SAIT, SAIT’s Distinguished Alumni Award, the Honorary Fellow Award from St. Mary’s University, and a place among Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40.

Most recently, Linda has embarked on a new chapter as the host and producer of The Spotlight Hour with Linda Olsen, a radio and podcast series where she continues doing what she does best bringing Calgary’s stories to life and celebrating the people who make this city extraordinary.
